Tim tears up after marrying a couple. Perhaps realizing that this may be the closest he can currently get to polygamy, Judge Philpot breaks down in tears while acknowledging a heterosexual couple in his audience whom he had recently married. In his fictional autobiography, Judge Timothy Philpot discusses many real life events both outside and within his courtroom including descriptions of actual cases. Listed below   are the third set of disguised characters and clues about their actual identities 21. JANET GUY AND DARIUS BARNHART Disguised characters: Janet Guy and Darius Barnhart Background: Janet and Darius are Paternity Court litigants. Janet is described as “A typical young lady who got pregnant and became eligible for government benefits and knew the father was in jail. A drug addict, with six kids by five women. She never planned to be anything other than a single mother, just like her own mother." Paternity confirmation is needed in order to obtain government benefits and DNA testing   shows   that Darius Barnhart   is Janet’s   “latest baby daddy”.   Darius claims he is unable to pay child support which caused the judge to muse on the absence of black responsibility: “On some days the sadnes

In these unguarded comments to his religious audience at the Francis Asbury Society, Judge Philpot reveals that he categorizes people into at least three classes: 1. Those firmly on our side (the side of good), like his devout audience 2. Those who are basically good (they “just don’t know god”), but somewhat misguided because they don’t equivocally share all our strongly held opinions and values. The “total heathen” scientists in this example 3. Others (on the side of evil) – our enemies who can be further divided into degrees of evil when necessary Even if Judge Philpot can accurately identify those who belong in category 3, this method of sorting spells trouble for those in category 2 (arguably a large proportion of the population) who find themselves in his court, especially if the adverse party belongs in category 1. Jerry Turner and Tonya McDonald Jerry and Tonya are   Domestic Violence Court Litigants.   Jerry is Tonya's latest boyfriend against whom she   presents a poorly handwritten complaint asking for “no contact” due to violent abuse. However, she changes her mind and recants in court. This was her fifth petition against five different men who had fathered her babies. Jerry actually agrees to a domestic violence assessment but the judge fears that "… when he sobered up, he would likely be so mad he would not cooperate and probably would not be allowed to see his baby at all." 12.
